All our taiko classes are taught through Somei Taiko at the Soto Mission of Aiea Taiheiji, located at 99-045 Kauhale Street in Aiea.
10:30 to 11:30
The keiki class focuses on instilling the love of music through fun activities. Basic form, technique, and patterns are introduced.
11:30 to 12:30
The Junior Group is an intermediate level class. Review and expansion of Keiki class' content is ongoing. One main objective of the Junior Group is to develop our young players into performing group members.
12:30 to 2:00
The Adult Class consists of combined introductory and intermediate level classes.
For students with little to no taiko experience, great focus is given to learning the fundamentals of taiko: basic rhythms and proper technique.
For intermediate level students, the focus shifts to learning taiko songs and advanced rhythms and techniques.
2:00 to 3:30
This adult class is for advanced level players and students who are training for entry into the performing group. Students in this class are expected to learn new patterns and movements quickly.
